In North Carolina, the Republican Party has lost several thousand people since last Wednesday’s attack.
According to the State Board of Elections, 2,879 people left the Republican Party in North Carolina between January 6 and 11.
More than 2,400 of these people have become unaffiliated with 262 of them transferred to the Democratic Party.
As expected, Wake County had the largest number of voters leaving the Republican Party, with 586 people changing their affiliations.
There were quite a few people who joined the Republican Party after January 6 with 742 people turning from unaffiliated, constitutional, Democrats, or libertarians to Republicans.
Therefore, in that six-day timeframe, Republicans incurred a net loss of 2,137 registered voters across North Carolina.
On the Democratic side, the shift in party affiliation was not dramatic, although the party suffered a net loss.
Between January 6 and 11, 864 Democrats changed their affiliations. However, 722 voters from various parties converted to the Democratic Party, of whom 440 were unaffiliated. This is a net loss of 142 voters.
